Bike Giveaway – A Huge Success!

On May 22nd, 85 students from Natividad Pagan International Academy received refurbished bikes, new helmets, locks and jerseys at a bike giveaway sponsored by Joseph House, in partnership with Village Bicycle Cooperative and the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The students also enjoyed meeting Rob Powers, News 5 Cleveland Anchor, who shared this story on the evening news.

Thanks to the generosity of many and these dedicated volunteers, the kids were delighted with their new wheels! Marty Kaput, a dedicated volunteer at Joseph House, organized the bike giveaway. Over the past year, she collected bikes, transported them to Joseph House or the Village Bike Coop for repairs, and coordinated with Cleveland Schools to plan the distribution day. In addition, she asked for donations to support the giveaway instead of gifts for her 70th birthday in February and raised $2,000. We’d also like to thank The Congregation of St. Joseph who generously awarded us a $3,000 grant for the event.
